Why Should I Exercise?

Most people would agree that regular physical activity is good for you, but the majority of us don't do enough exercise to improve our health. Physical inactivity is equally as important as smoking cigarettes and an unhealthy diet in reducing chronic diseases. Adults who are physically active have a 20-30% reduced risk of premature death, and up to 50% reduced risk of developing the major chronic diseases e.g. CHD, stroke or cancer.

What Are The Benefits Of Exercise?

Taking regular exercise can help to protect you against heart disease, help you with weight loss, increase your strength, help you to feel more energetic, promote stress relief, increase well being and is an excellent way of making new friends.

Chair Aerobics

Unique to Hornsea Leisure Centre, this one of a kind exercise class is designed to allow you to improve both your flexibility and mobility while in the comfort of your own chair. Who could ask for anything more. Our friendly instructor Mandy will cater to your every need.

The social aspect of this class is great,come and exercise,and afterwards enjoy complementary tea or coffee and biscuits.

Exercise Referral

Exercise referral is a scheme that links your local GP to our Tone Zone. Through which you can follow a subsidised course of exercise over 10 weeks whilst being given constant guidance and encouragement from our exercise professionals.

Weight Management

Creating a friendly social atmosphere, with fully qualified instructors Rob and Pat to help you achieve your goals

This session is aimed at those people who would not normally see themselves using a leisure facility, and to help change their outlook on exercise, enabling them to take part in a structured moderate activity.

The two sessions are run at Hornsea on a Monday and Friday. Monday session is two hours long, 10am till 12noon. Within this session you will be provided with information on diet and lifestyle, followed by a light circuit class, and a chance to chat with newly found friends.

The Friday session is only one hour long, from 11am till 12noon this session includes a nice light circuit class followed by a relaxing chat with friends and instructors.

This course has been running for 2 months and has proved to be extremely popular. In order to guarantee your place on the course, or for more information about Weight Management here at Hornsea Leisure Centre, please contact us on (01964) 533366.

Walking the Way to Health

This organised walk happens every Monday 1pm and Wednesday at 11am.The Monday walk is for 30mins and Wednesday is for 1hr and 1 Wednesday in the month is for 2hrs. The walk is set around the wonderful paths of Hornsea, come meet people and make new friends. The walk is suited for all ages and abilities. Improve your fitness and health in this gentle yet effective way. All you have to do is just turn up at Hornsea Leisure Centre.

Walks are also available from other East Riding Sites such as Beverley Leisure Complex, Haltemprice, Pocklington, Sewerby, Howden and Goole.

Racket Ball

New to Hornsea Leisure centre...Every Tuesday afternoon join us for an afternoon of racket sports. For 4 weeks we have an England squash coach to help guide you and help improve your swing.
